Tallahassee & Panama City, Florida

We left bright and early on the Monday morning. We were mainly driving on the coast so the views were amazing. The sea was a turquoise blue and the sands were almost pure white.
We headed to Tallahassee, which is the capital of Florida. Its closer to Atlanta that it is to Miami. It is apparently one of the least touristy cities in Florida. Its a very small, historical city. Interesting to see, however, we didn't stay long.
Back in the RV we headed back down the 319 to Panama City Beach. We'd never heard of Panama City Beach before. We think its the hidden secret in Florida! The beaches here are the best we've seen so far. We were told that their beaches were often ranked in the Top 5 Beaches! This was by far the best destination we had been to in Florida. It is also the Number One destination for Spring Breakers, we had missed it by a few weeks!
we had another great campsite here, just steps away from the beach. We checked in, got all our info. Whilst Brett hooked up our water and electricity. I did my usual looking at the info leaflets...where to go, what to do, oh and how to reduce the risk of a Shark Encounter!!! Just follow these few steps, we can't guarantee it will stop you getting attacked, but please adhere to the following:
- Don't swim alone, sharks like solo swimmers
- Don't swim out too far, they may be hovering
- Don't swim at night
- No shiny jewellery
- use extra caution when occupying the area between sandbars & steep drops, these are all favourite hang outs for sharks
- this is my favourite - Don't enter the water if sharks are known to be present (really??!!)
- Do not harrass a shark id you see one (again really!!)
We didn't see any sharks as much as we tried and broke all the above rules...we just wanted a good photo opportunity...of course I'm kidding Mum!!
We went to a bar called 'Schooners - the last local beach club' it was right on the beach. We treated ourselves and ate out ( we seem to be treating ourselves a lot, We sat on the beach to watch the most amazing sunset - see pictures.
We spent the following day sunning ourselves and in the evening we went to a highly recommended restaurent called 'Spinnakers' one of the mega bars/ nightclubs, where MTV films. We thought we'd take a nice stroll along the beach and get there for a nice drink, just in time for sunset. Well 4 miles and an hour and a half later we arrived!!
The moto of the club/bar is "party with 1000's from poolside daytime bikini contests to all night super party palace! Famous for incredible DJ's, live rock and the most beautiful people on the planet". Well tonight this was indeed true.....the beauty was amazing...Brett and I were the only ones in there!! I think we'd chosen the worst night of the year to go. They were so quiet and just our business wasn't enough, so they closed early! So off we went back on out loooong walk home!!
